North rallies to 14-10 win
It wasn't the shootout we saw three years ago in Rochester, when Team Canada beat Team Canada in overtime, 25-24, but the 2002 All-Star Game, held at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT, was certainly an interesting, exciting event. Running neck-and-neck with the North Team for most of the first half, the South All-Star built an 8-6 halftime advantage, then fell apart in the second half as the Northerners ran off seven goals en route to a 14-10 win (the South played three players short, all absent due to other commitments). Toronto's Steve Toll scored three goals for the North, earning Game MVP honors, while the retiring Paul Gait, hobbled with injuries, was held scoreless in his final professional game.
