Gary Gait scored eight goals, while Paul Gait and Paul Cantabene dished out five assists each, as the Washington Power defeated the Calgary Roughnecks, 19-15, Saturday evening at Capital Centre.

Ben Prepchuk scored five goals, including three on the power play, for the Roughnecks.

Calgary dug itself into a 5-2 hole after one quarter, allowing Gary Gait two of his eight goals in the opening period. At intermission, the deficit was five goals, at 10-5, by which time Paul Gait had scored of his own.

"It was a tough matchup for us but we knew that going in," Calgary head coach Chris Hall said of the twins he has occasionally coached in Victoria, BC, since they were fifteen years old. "We tried a few different ways to diminish the Gaits but they just played their normal game."

Near the end of the third quarter, the Roughnecks made a bit of a run at the Power, finding two goals from Kaleb Toth and one each from Prepchuk and Shawn Cable in less than a three-minute span. Down by four goals heading into the final period of play, Calgary could not narrow the deficit.

Devin Dalep stopped 36 shots in the win, while Matt King's 39 saves could not avert defeat.

The Power improves to an NLL-best 7-2 this season, while Calgary falls to 4-8 in its debut campaign.
