Albany Attacks Washington, 17-9Josh Sanderson's five goals lifts Attack to 10-2Scott Neiss Outsider's Guide Assistant Editor The Albany Attack capitalized on a collapse of the Washington Power Saturday night, with Jim Moss leading the Attack on a twenty-five minute, seven-goal run to catapult Albany to its tenth win of the season, a 17-9 road victory over the Eastern Division leader in front of an announced crowd of 2,107. Albany looked to extend their winning streak to six games right off the bat, with three quick goals by Bryan Kazarian, Moss, and Josh Sanderson. Washington responded with a three-goal run of its own, with two from Del Halladay and one from Paul Gait. Mike Regan slipped one past Devin Dalep to give Albany a 4-3 lead, but Washington opened up a four-goal run, with goals from Paul Cantabene, Bobby Horsey, Gait and Fred Jenner. The Power had scored seven of the last eight goals, outshooting their opponents to a 7-4 lead, their first and only of the game. Washington proceded to collapse in the last thirteen minutes of the first half. Gary Rosyski and Chris Parkin scored on two beautiful plays by Albany, followed by a natural hat trick by Sanderson, scoring three straight goals before the first half came to a close. Washington went into the locker room down 9-7, showing signs of fatigue with their undefeated record at home at stake. The Power came out in the second half ready to play, so it seemed. After a five-minute scoring drought, Halladay cut the Attack lead to a goal. The Power committed a bad bench-minor penalty, but head coach Darris Kilgour put Gait in the sin bin to serve the penalty. After a successful penalty kill, the play worked as planned, with Paul springing out of the penalty box and catching the long outlet pass from Devin Dalep for an easy breakaway goal, knotting the game at nine. That would be the end of the great battle between the top two teams in the NLL. This Washington collapse was worse then the first, and the final buzzer was the only thing stopping the shutout barrage. With nearly ten minutes to play in the third quarter, Teat scored the game-winning goal, giving Albany a 10-9 lead. Shortly after, Sanderson fed Teat again, who scored the second of his four goals on the night. Parkin and Sanderson put two more on the board, giving Albany a 13-9 lead. A holding penalty gave Albany a power play, which Teat easily capitalized on. Rob Blasdell was phenomenal in goal for Albany, giving the goal judge a break with 42 saves and a 25-minute shutout. With the Attack ahead 14-9 with only a few minutes to play, Teat signalled for the offense to slow down the game and run out the shot clock. However, Teat caught the Power defense sleeping, easily broke through into a one-on-one with Devin Dalep that he couldn't turn down. Add one more apiece for Moss and Rosyski, and the eight-goal run gives Albany a shocking 17-9 victory. Sanderson led the Attack with five goals and two assists. Albany is the first team in the NLL to record ten wins, assured of the best record in franchise history. Washington falls to 7-5, although it still holds a half-game lead on Philadelphia for first place in the Eastern Division.
