Ravens bounce back with 13-10 win at OttawaStroup leads Vancouver to victory after loss to RockR.A. Philly Outsider's Guide Editor in Chief Dan Stroup scored four goals, leading the Vancouver Ravens to a 13-10 victory over the Ottawa Rebel at the Ottawa Civic Centre Saturday night. Vancouver heads home from its eastern Canadian swing with a split, following an 11-7 loss at Toronto last night. Early on, it looked as if the Ravens had some anger to let out, taking a quick 1-0 lead courtesy of Luke Ansley, then blowing it open to 4-0 in a span of 64 seconds late in the quarter, on goals from Cam Sedgwick, Chris Prat and Stroup. Brad Self got Ottawa on the board less than a minute later, but Stroup restored the four-goal lead, ending the first quarter at 5-1 for the Ravens. Ottawa made a hard charge in the second quarter, using goals from Chris Konopliff, Mat Giles and Jason Clark to inch within one, 5-4. It couldn't find the equalizer, though -- Stroup pushed it back to a two-goal game, and Chris Gill struck with a little less than two minutes remaining in the half. Vancouver made it 8-4 early in the third quarter when Bruce Alexander took a pass from Cam Sedgwick and buried it past goaltender Matt Disher. Kevin Howard halved the deficit in the fourth minute, scoring twice in 22 seconds. Despite a pair of goals from Giles, the Rebel could not get closer than two goals, trailing 11-9 at the end of the three periods. Sedgwick scored little more than two minutes into the final quarter, then the Vancouver defense dug in, allowing Ottawa just five shots on goal in the quarter (nine more were off-target). Ansley scored late to put the game out of reach at 13-9, and by the time the Rebel finally hit twine, less than a minute remained. Stroup led all scorers with seven points (four goals, three assists), while Scott Wylie stopped 28 shots in his first career start. Giles had five points (three goals, two assists) for the Rebel, while Disher made 38 saves in defeat.
