Attack knocks down Saint Bernards, 13-8Albany wins big without leading scorerR.A. Philly Outsider's Guide Editor in Chief The Albany Attack rallied from a first-half deficit Saturday night, defeating the New York Saints, 13-8, at Pepsi Arena. Gary Rosyski and Rusty Kruger led the Attack with three goals and two assists each, while Nick Trudeau chipped in five assists of his own. Gavin Prout had two goals and two assists for the Saints. The first of Prout's goals came almost in the blink of an eye. New York won the opening faceoff and worked the ball to Prout for a strike just nine seconds into the ballgame. Albany bounced back, using goals from Chris Parkin and Jim Moss -- just nine seconds apart -- to take a 2-1 lead in the second minute. Another six and a half minutes went by before someone scored, and wouldn't you know it -- another flash of offense. Chad Culp tied the game at 8:31, and Don Little gave the Saints the lead again, just twenty seconds later. And so ended the scoring in the first quarter, with the Saints ahead 3-2. Albany evened the match 68 seconds into the second quarter when Rosyski took a pass from Trudeau and buried a shot past Saints netminder Gord Nash. New York retook the lead on a Prout goal mere seconds later, then stretched it to 5-3 on a power-play goal in the sixth minute. A half-minute later, Kruger scored an even-strength goal, launching an eight-goal, 28-minute Attack run. Parkin and Rosyski made it 6-5 at halftime, and Kruger, Mike Regan, and Rosyski pushed it to 9-5 at the end of three quarters. Ultimately, Rosyski's goal would stand up as the game-winner. However, the Attack kept piling on the goals, with Moss scoring nine seconds into the fourth quarter and Kruger tacking one on in the third minute for a commanding 11-5 lead. Anthony Saccone broke up the run, followed a couple minutes later by Bryan Bendig. Although the gap was just four goals with nearly ten minutes to play, New York could advance no closer, getting a late Dan Paccione goal sandwiched around strikes from Dan Teat and Brian Kazarian. Albany played without leading scorer Josh Sanderson, who stayed behind in his native Ontario die to chronic nosebleeds. He plans to see a specialist this week. Albany, 6-6, extends its winning streak to four games, and is now in a three-way tie for the final playoff spot. New York falls to 1-12 and could mathematically clinch the league's worst record as soon as next weekend.
