A rundown of the action during Day Seven of the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship, held Saturday at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, Ontario.

United States wins Bronze Game, 15-9

The United States avenged a preliminary-round loss to Scotland earlier in the week, defeating the Scots, 15-9, Saturday morning for third place.

The Americans set their sights on the bronze medal from the get-go, jumping out to a 4-0 lead midway through the quarter. Although Scotland tied the game at four by the end of the period, it couldn't grab the lead and trailed 6-5 at intermission.

The United States busted the game wide open in the second half, scoring four goals in the third quarter and five in the fourth.

Kevin Finneran (United States) and Dan Teat (Scotland) led their respective sides with four goals and two assists each. Chad Wittman also had a hat trick for the Americans.

In goal, Dwight Maetche took the win, while Derek Collins suffered the loss. Both played the entire game.

Canada pounds Nats to win gold, 21-4

John Grant scored seven goals and added two assists as Canada defeated the Iroquois Nationals, 21-4, Saturday afternoon, winning the first World Indoor Lacrosse Championship.

A crowd of 7,132 was on hand at Copps Coliseum to watch the gold medal game, a rematch of a thrilling round-robin game a week ago, won by the Canadians, 15-13.

Today, though, Canada dismantled the Iroquois with a tremendous offensive outburst, leading 5-0 at the end of the first quarter and 12-2 at halftime.

Canada was ahead by ten goals before it allowed the Nationals to score their first of the game, a Duane Jacobs (Buffalo Bandits) tally at 8:41 of the second quarter, and continued the onslaught into the second half, scoring another nine goals.

Grant, a forward for the NLL's Rochester Knighthawks, was named Canada's player of the game. Cory Bomberry, who also plays for the Knighthawks, earned similar honors for the Iroquois, tallying a goal and two assists in the contest.

Grant finally ended a personal jinx, winning a major championship for the first time ever. He has never won the NLL Champion's Cup, despite reaching the playoffs each of his four professional seasons, nor has he ever hoisted the Mann Cup, Canada's senior box lacrosse championship trophy.

However, two of Grant's Canadian teammates, goaltender Bob Watson and forward Chris Driscoll, are no strangers to championships. In the past twelve months, they've won the Mann Cup (with the Brampton Excelsiors), the NLL Champion's Cup (with the Toronto Rock), and the WILC gold medal.

Today's win capped off a perfect 7-0 record for the Canadians, who outscored their opposition, 148-42.
