Teat, Sanderson hat tricks; Powell scores five for Anaheim

Dan Teat and Josh Sanderson each scored three goals as the San Jose Stealth defeated the Anaheim Storm, 12-9, Friday night at Arrowhead Pond.

Casey Powell tallied five goals in defeat, teaming up with Chris Panos (one goal, five assists) to score four times for the Storm.

Tonight's game, like the teams' recent meeting in San Jose, was all Stealth until it was too late for the Storm to successfully rally.

The Stealth took a 3-0 lead after one quarter, on goals by Rusty Kruger, Mike Regan, and Sanderson, and made it 6-1 by late in the second quarter.

Powell's first goal of the game, with 1:21 left in the first half, pulled the Storm to within four goal at intermission, 6-2.

Teat and Powell dominated the third quarter scoring, with the Stealth forward striking twice around mid-quarter and the Storm sniper coming back with a quick pair in the tenth minute.

Darren Reisig stretched the lead to 9-4 by scoring in the final minute of the period.

After a flurry of goals early in the fourth (Ted Jenner for Anaheim, Gary Rosyski and Sanderson for San Jose), the action settled down for a while, until Michael Law scored at 6:50.

That touched off a three-goal Storm run which didn't end until San Jose goaltender Brandon Miller scored on the unoccupied Anaheim net at 13:43.

That puts Miller in rare company, joining Ted Sawicki, Pat O'Toole, Devin Dalep and Stealth teammate Rob Blasdell as the only netminders to score a goal.

San Jose heads home to meet the Calgary Roughnecks tomorrow night at HP Pavilion -- the winner will host the Western Division semifinal, with the loser almost certain to provide the opposition that night.

Anaheim limps onward to Denver for a meeting tomorrow night with the Colorado Mammoth. One more Storm loss will set a league record for defeats in a season.
