San Jose Stealth at New York Titans
Thursday, 7:30 PM - Madison Square Garden
Inside: Game Stats | Discuss the Game

Jeff Zywicki and Luke Wiles scored three goals each in the LumberJax's 12-7 victory over the Titans.

After giving up the game's first goal, San Jose (2-2) rebounded to grab a 4-1 lead by the end of the first quarter. Wiles scored twice in the run, bookended by goals from Gary Rosyski and Steve Holmes.

Casey Powell and Brendan Mundorf scored early in the second quarter for New York (1-3), pulling the Titans to within 4-3, but the Stealth countered with the next three goals and led 7-4 at halftime.

Wiles and Zywicki each scored quickly to begin the third quarter, giving San Jose a cozy six-goal advantage which Colin Doyle and Frank Resetarits later expanded even further, to 11-4.

Mundorf scored twice in the fourth quarter in a case of too little, too late.

Wiles had the game high in points, with seven (3 goals, 4 assists), with Zywicki a point behind (3 goals, 3 assists). Powell had a goal and four assists to lead the Titans.

Portland LumberJax at Edmonton Rush
Saturday, 9:30 PM - Rexall Place
Inside: Game Stats | Discuss the Game

Derek Malawsky scored three goals, including the game-winner, as the LumberJax edged the Rush, 11-10.

Portland (1-3) dominated offensively in the first quarter, scoring twice in the first 90 seconds and taking a 5-1 lead by the end of the first quarter, with five different LumberJax players (including Malawsky and Brodie Merrill) lighting the lamp.

After an exchange of goals to begin the second quarter, Edmonton (0-4) began to battle back, stringing together three goals -- two in the final five minutes -- to pull within 6-5 at intermission.

Early third-quarter goals by A.J. Shannon and Darren Hillier put the Rush out in front, 7-6, but the LumberJax soon recovered, on power play goals by Malawsky and Dan Dawson. After Mike Accursi and Scott Stapleford exchanged goals, Jim Quinlan scored with three minutes left in the period, for a 9-9 tie.

An Accursi goal at 6:41 of the fourth quarter put the Rush ahead again, but Dawson tied the game four minutes later and Malawsky netted the decisive goal with 2:23 to play.

Quinlan led all scorers, netting three Rush goals and assisting on two others. Malawsky (3 goals), Dawson (2 goals, 1 assist) and Cory Conway led the LumberJax with three points each.

Minnesota Swarm at San Jose Stealth
Saturday, 10:30 PM - HP Pavilion
Inside: Game Stats | Discuss the Game

Andy Secore recorded a hat trick in the Swarm's 14-12 victory over the Stealth.

San Jose (2-3) took an early 2-0 lead following goals by Colin Doyle and Gary Rosyski. A Sean Pollock goal two minutes later put the Swarm on the board, but Minnesota (4-0) spent the entire second quarter down one or two goals.

Jeff Zywicki put the Stealth back out in front 55 seconds into the second half, but the rest of the third quarter belonged to Minnesota, with Secore, Ryan Ward and Pollock staking the Swarm to an 8-7 lead.

After Minnesota built its lead to 10-8, San Jose ran off three straight goals (Sedgwick once and Zywicki twice) to take a one-goal advantage midway through the fourth quarter.

The lead was short-lived, with Dean Hill scoring 82 seconds later and Ryan Sharp putting the Swarm back into the lead less than a minute after that. After Chad Culp exchanged a goal with Zywicki, Ryan Cousins netted an insurance goal at 13:21 for the final score.

Doyle (3 goals, 8 assists) easily led all scorers in points, with only teammate Zywicki (5 goals, 4 assists) close behind. Craig Point paced the Swarm, tallying 2 goals and 5 assists.
