Around the National Lacrosse League for the games of Week Fourteen, 29 March 2008. (Summaries are based on best-available information and may be amended as necessary.)

Minnesota Swarm at Chicago Shamrox
Saturday, 8:00 PM - Sears Centre
Inside: Game Stats | Discuss the Game

Cody Jacobs scored six goals, leading the Shamrox to a 15-10 upset of the Swarm.

Minnesota (7-4) had the better of the Shamrox early, goaling up 4-0 midway through the first quarter and 5-1 after fifteen minutes. Keith Cromwell led the Swarm with two goals in the period.

Chicago (3-7) came roaring back in the second quarter, taking a 6-5 halftime lead on three goals by Jacobs, singles from Scott Self and Jonas Derks, and a shutout period in goal by Matt Roik.

Jacobs completed a natural hat trick with two goals to open the second half, then Callum Crawford scored twice and the Shamrox were ahead 10-5.

Andy Secore finally snapped what had become a ten-goal Chicago run, starting a mini-run that brought the Swarm to within 11-8. The Shamrox got the next three goals, though, putting the game out of reach.

Jacobs (6 goals, 1 assist) and Secore (2 goals, 5 assists) tied for the game high in points, with seven each.

Philadelphia Wings at Rochester Knighthawks
Saturday, 8:05 PM - Blue Cross Arena
Inside: Game Stats | Discuss the Game

John Grant scored four goals and dished out four assists as the Knighthawks routed the Wings, 20-12.

Philadelphia (7-3) held a 3-2 lead late in the first quarter, but it quickly disintegrated into a 6-3 deficit on four Knighthawk goals in four minutes.

Rochester (5-6) came on just as strong in the second quarter, outscoring the Wings 7-4 en route to a 13-7 halftime lead. Grant scored twice in the period, with Shawn Evans, Scott Evans, Shawn Williams, Ken Millin and Mat McLeod adding singles.

Williams scored to begin the third quarter, but the Wings fired back with four straight, pulling to within 14-11 and seemingly headed towards another of their come-from-behind wins.

Fat chance -- the Knighthawks scored twice early in the fourth quarter and twice more just past the halfway mark, taking an 18-11 lead. From there, it was smooth sailing.

Grant led all scorers with eight points. Geoff Snider paced the Wings with three goals and two assists.

San Jose Stealth at Edmonton Rush
Saturday, 9:30 PM - Rexall Place
Inside: Game Stats | Discuss the Game

The Rush scored six third-quarter goals, enough to expose the Stealth, 12-5.

After ten minutes of scoreless lacrosse, Jim Quinlan put Edmonton (3-7) on the board, followed a minute later by Ian Crashley. Jeff Zywicki scored with two seconds left in the first quarter, bringing San Jose (6-5) to within 2-1.

Edmonton rolled on the second quarter, scoring three times (Chris McKay, Lindsay Plunkett, and Mike Hominuck). Zywicki again had the only goal of the quarter for the Stealth.

After newly-acquired Dan Teat traded goals with Stealth veteran Cam Sedgwick, the Rush rattled off five straight goals to end the third quarter with an 11-3 lead.

Zywicki and Frank Resetarits scored in the fourth quarter, allowing San Jose to avoid matching the league's regular-season record for scoring futility.

Quinlan (3 goals, 1 assist) was one of three Rush players with four points. Zywicki (3 goals) and Colin Doyle (3 assists) paced San Jose offensively.
