Inside: Game Stats | Discuss the Game

Casey Powell scored four goals, leading the Titans to a 13-8 victory over the Wings.

Dan Teat gave Philadelphia (0-1) an early 1-0 lead, but Bill Greer tied the game three minutes later. A Drew Westervelt goal again put the Wings ahead, but Mike McLellan and Greg Peyser gained the lead for the Titans with late-period goals.

Orlando (1-0) extended its lead to 8-3 in the second quarter, as Powell netted a pair of goals and Pat Maddalena, McLellan and Ryan Boyle added singles. Westervelt had Philadelphia's only goal of the period.

The Wings feel even further behind in the third quarter, outscored four goals to one in the period. Powell struck twice again for New York, for a 12-4 lead, while Jason Crosbie tallied the Wings' lone score.

Philadelphia finally came to life in the fourth quarter, on goals by Mat Giles, Bill McGlone, Westervelt and Teat. However, this late push came too late to affect the outcome.

Jordan Hall finished with a game-high six points for New York, all assists, while Powell finished with five (4 goals, 1 assist). Teat had four points (2 goals, 2 assists) to lead the Wings.

Toronto Rock at Boston Blazers
Saturday, 7:30 PM - TD Garden
Inside: Game Stats | Discuss the Game

Garrett Billings scored five goals in his NLL debut, leading the Rock to a 17-7 thrashing of the Blazers.

Creighton Reid, another newcomer to the Rock, opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal, then Billings followed with a power play goal moments later. Blaine Manning then scored twice for Toronto (1-0), which ended the quarter with a 5-1 lead.

Another lopsided period awaited Boston (0-1) in the second, during which the Blazers conceded another six goals -- two by Josh Wasson and two more by Billings among them.

Boston outscored Toronto, 3-1, in the third quarter (two goals by Dan Dawson), but the blood-letting resumed in the fourth, during which Colin Doyle scored his first goal since returning to the Rock.

Doyle's biggest impact, though, was his playmaking, as he finished with nine assists and a game-high ten points. Dawson paced the Blazers with five points, on three goals and two assists.

Buffalo Bandits at Rochester Knighthawks
Saturday, 8:05 PM - Blue Cross Arena
Inside: Game Stats | Discuss the Game

John Grant tallied two goals and six assists in his return from major knee surgery a year ago, pacing the Knighthawks to a 10-5 victory over the Bandits.

Gary Gait opened the scoring for Rochester (1-0) a minute and a half in, then Shawn Evans and Grant extended the lead to 3-0 in the seventh minute. Goals by Roger Vyse and Mike Accursi moments later narrowed the gap to 3-2 after one period.

Buffalo (0-1) moved ahead, 4-3, early in the second quarter, courtesy of Mark Steenhuis and A.J. Shannon. The Knighthawks answered with a bang -- Gait, Grant, Gait, and Cory Bomberry, marking a 7-4 halftime lead.

Rochester slowed down the pace of play in the second half, exchanging single goals with Buffalo in the third quarter before holding the Bandits scoreless in the fourth.

Grant easily led all scorers with eight points, while Steenhuis paced the Bandits with three (1 goal, 2 assists). John Tavares, the NLL's alltime leading scorer, did not play for Buffalo.

Colorado Mammoth at Washington Stealth
Saturday, 10:30 PM - Comcast Arena
Inside: Game Stats | Discuss the Game

Jeff Zywicki blasted home five goals as the Stealth marked their Comcast Arena debut with a 17-8 thrashing of the Mammoth.

Zywicki wasted little time staking Washington (1-0) to the lead, scoring 91 seconds into the game. A short-handed goal by Paul Rabil and another tally by Zywicki left the Stealth in front, 3-0, at the end of the first quarter.

Colorado (0-1) rallied to within a goal early in the second, getting first-minute markers by Jamie Shewchuk and Ilija Gajic. Zywicki countered with two of his own as Washington moved out to a 6-3 halftime lead.

Very quickly, 6-3 became 9-3 when Rabil, Rhys Duch and Eric Martin scored in the opening three minutes of the third quarter. Goals by Gajic and Shewchuk failed to turn the tide, with the Stealth improving its lead to 12-5 with fifteen minutes to play.

Jason Bloom and Mike Grimes added insult to Colorado's injury when they netted back-to-back shorthanders before the fourth quarter was even 30 seconds old. From there, the Stealth coasted to victory.

Zywicki finished as the game's high scorer (eight points), adding three assists to his five goals. Shewchuk led the Mammoth offensively, totalling five points on four goals and an assist.

Minnesota Swarm at Calgary Roughnecks
Sunday, 5:00 PM - Saddledome
Inside: Game Stats | Discuss the Game

Josh Sanderson scored four goals and dished out six assists as the Roughnecks began their defense of the Champion's Cup with a 12-7 victory over the visiting Swarm.

Sanderson opened the scoring three and a half minutes into the first quarter, depositing a feed from Tracey Kelusky. Minnesota (0-1) took a 2-1 lead moments later, on goals by Andrew Watt and Aaron Wilson, but Jeff Moleski tied the game late in the period for the Riggers.

Calgary (1-0) made its move in the second quarter, as Kelusky, Sanderson (two goals) and Scott Ranger each scored for a 6-2 lead. The Swarm closed to within two when Ryan Benesch netted a pair, one at mid-quarter and the other a minute before intermission.

Zach Greer's goal to open the second half pulled Minnesota to within one goal, but Blaine Manning had a response moments later. A Wilson goal was similarly refuted by Sanderson, except this time, Jeff Shattler and Craig Conn scored behind him to stake out a 10-6 Roughnecks lead.

After Sean Thomson scored for Minnesota with two seconds left in the third quarter, Calgary's defense went into lockdown, allowing no more goals.

Sanderson easily topped the stat sheet, his ten points placing him five clear of Dobbie (1 goal, 4 assists) and Benesch (2 goals, 3 assists).
