The Outsider's Guide would like to thank...The Outsider's Guide wishes to thank the following people for their help throughout the 2001-2002 National Lacrosse League. Without the assistance of fans across the league, the coverage this season would not have been nearly as successful as it was. First, thanks to the game correspondents. I also owe a debt of gratitude to the people who did not write any game summaries but who contributed frequent assistance, without which most game summaries would never have been complete. Whether they were helping to write lead paragraphs for articles and for the home page, suggesting headlines, adding their own comments to the articles of others, providing stats, sending press releases, making suggestions, or just offering the little things that keep the Outsider's Guide at such a high level of quality, they've helped in ways that usually go without recognition. My thanks to Campy, Brent Clark, Dave Coleman, Glen Dundas, eSs88, Daryl Fernquist, Gonzo in Rochester, Fabio Gump, Laxiter, Doug Marcus, Johnny Mogul, John Sapello, Shae Sperry, Jennifer Stefani, WingsFan423566, the Outsider's Guide's insiders throughout the league, and the multitudes who passed through the About.com/Lacrosse-Network.com chat room throughout the course of the season. An extra round of applause goes to Saul Davidson and Scott Neiss, for bringing an unrealistic fifty-three games (from eleven NLL cities plus Uncasville, CT) to fans around the league and around the world through the netcasting power of the ArenaMedia Sports Network, and to Keith Welner, for setting up the server which kept AMSN on the air. Between our coverage and that provided by various radio stations around the league, 105 of 110 games were available online. In addition to Saul and Scott, the AMSN on-air staff included Lou Anthony, Rob Christ, Joe Fee, Mike "Hammer" Hancock, Dave Holusha, Rob Lee, Ben Knight, Andrew McKay, Kent Ridley, Michael Scott, and Greg White, while the technical side of things (encoding) was managed superbly by Saul, Scott, Keith, Daryl Fernquist, John Sapello, and John Vickers. Nine of AMSN's 53 netcasts were streams of radio broadcasts not otherwise online -- thanks to WYSL 1040 (Rochester), Fan 590 (Toronto), and Team 1040 (Vancouver) for working with us on those games. The biggest thanks, however, go to you, the readers. This is usually the space where I bring up just how many more of you there were this season over last year, but due to a series of setbacks around Christmas, Lacrosse-Network.com is still working without site statistics -- so I have no idea what the actual numbers are, only that they're larger than they were in the 2001 season. Those setbacks we suffered cost us our original domain name and left us offline for about ten days, but we came roaring back on New Year's Eve, and so did you. As fast as the Outsider's Guide was re-uploaded, you came back to the Outsider's Guide even faster. All I can say is this -- thank you. R.A. Philly -30- |
