Power to unveil all-text logo'W' inside 'P' sets off symbol for relocated teamR.A. Philly Outsider's Guide Editor in Chief In a marked departure from the trend towards animated and cartoon-like logos, the Washington Power is set to release a logo that simply states the team's name. In a black-and-white version of the team logo, obtained today by the Outsider's Guide and shown below, the name "Power" is spelled out, with "Washington" above it and in a smaller font, and has the 'W' extend above and below the surrounding letters.
The distinguishing feature of the logo, however, is a smaller version of the central 'W' set inside the 'P' of "Power." "[The W-inside-P logo] will be the apparel logo for shirts, hats, mugs, etcetera," Power vice president and general manager Steve Govett said. "It will also grace the shoulder patch of the jersey [and] will also serve on [our] letterhead and web site." The full logo will be on the front of the jersey. The exact color scheme of the logo has not been established, but it will feature a combination of red, dark blue, and silver. -30- |
