Philadelphia Wings head coach Tony Resch was today named the NLL's Coach of the Year, after leading the team to its first-ever ten-win season.

Like the All-Rookie Team named last week, this is the first time the league has named a Coach of the Year.

The winningest and longest-tenured coach in the fifteen-year history of the franchise, as well as NLL's most-tenured active coach, Resch guided the Wings to a 10-4 record in the regular season and a 12-11 win over Rochester in the semifinal round this past weekend.

In seven seasons as Philadelphia's coach, Resch has compiled a 53-24 regular-season record and a 6-5 postseason record.

"Tony is not only a great coach, but more importantly he is a great person," said Wings Owner and President Russ Cline. "He rises to every challenge on and off the field."

Resch goes for his third league title as coach Friday night, when the Wings visit the Toronto Rock in the NLL Championship Game.

Other nominees for Coach of the Year were Albany's Terry Sanderson, New York's Sal LoCascio, Ottawa's Mark Vitarelli, Toronto's Les Bartley, and Washington's Darris Kilgour.
