Montreal Express logo

The Montreal Express logo, due to be unveiled at a press conference tomorrow, has leaked out and has been published at various web sites.

The logo, as shown at right, features the black head of a ghost streaking from the right background to the left foreground, leaving a trail of black and gray vapor behind it. Two thin-slit eyes peer out from the center of the head.

Across the face is a blue X, representative of a theme which reportedly will be present on the jerseys. On the uniform tops, the ghost head will sit atop a shoulders-to-waist X.

Below the ghost head are the words "Montréal Express lacrosse" in lower case, with "Express" in large black letters with blue, white, and gold trim. The other two words are smaller and in solid black.

In a departure from most other recently-created logos, the only indication that this is the logo of a professional lacrosse team is the word itself at the bottom of the image -- no rough-and-tumble players in mid-shot, or even a stick itself.

The formal unveiling of the logo and uniforms will come tomorrow afternoon at a 1:00 PM press conference in Montreal.

The Express, created as part of a "hybrid expansion" plan in June, in order to keep lacrosse in Columbus while bringing it to Montreal, will play this winter at Molson Centre.
