Express makes clean sweep of weekly hardwareRecord-smashing game yields honors for Kelusky, Codd, AitkenR.A. Philly Outsider's Guide Editor in Chief Montreal Express forward Tracey Kelusky and defensemen Bruce Codd and Zac Aitken combined to keep the National Lacrosse League's player of the week awards for Week Two exclusively in the province of Quebec. Kelusky was named the league's overall Player of the Week in addition to Offensive Player honors. His six goals and five assists paced all Montreal scorers in the Express' record-breaking 32-17 victory at Calgary on Saturday, and tied with the Roughnecks' John Kilbride for the high point total in the game. Codd secured the Defensive Player of the Week award for his twelve loose balls recovered in the game at Calgary. He added two goals and three assists in the match. Aitken was named Rookie of the Week by recording a goal and five assists for the Express on Saturday. This marks the first time either Codd or Aitken has received an NLL award. Kelusky, though, adds to his collection, which also includes (all for 2001 season) Player of the Week in Week Eleven, Rookie of the Year, Second Team All-Pro, and All-Rookie team selection. -30- |
