New Jersey Storm owner Jayson Williams might be charged in the future in the shooting death of a man at his estate, media reports today are suggesting.

Local authorities investing the shooting death of Costas Christofi appear to be leaning towards the explanation that Williams was either tinkering with the shotgun or twirling it in his hand when it discharged, several local newspapers and television stations are reporting.

Christofi, a 55-year-old limo driver, was killed early Thursday morning by a gunshot wound to the chest. The shooting occured at Williams' "Who Knew?" in northwestern New Jersey.

However, acting Hunterdon County prosecutor Steven Lember won't confirm the reports which appeared in the Star-Ledger of Newark and The Record of Hackensack, and on WNBC-TV in New York.

"I'm not prepared to state where we are in the investigation, in terms of who the shooter was," Lember said. "The fair thing to say is we have a pretty good idea of who that was, and we're trying to determine how that happened."

Specific charges have not been discussed, although homicide seems not to be an option, because of the apparent accidental nature of the shooting.
