The National Lacrosse League today announced the rosters for the 2002 All-Star Game, to be played on Sunday, 21 April at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, with the Toronto Rock and Washington Power the big winners among the starting twelve.

Among full rosters, the Rock, Albany Attack and Rochester Knighthawks fared best, placing five players each.

For the postseason exhibition, the league has been divided into teams from the North (Rochester, Toronto, Calgary Roughnecks, Montreal Express, Ottawa Rebel and Vancouver Ravens) and the South (Albany, Washington, Buffalo Bandits, Columbus Landsharks, New Jersey Storm, New York Saints and Philadelphia Wings).

Online fan balloting comprised one-third of the selection of the starting lineups, with the league's coaches and general managers and its media providing the other two-thirds. The league, in collaboration with North coach Les Bartley (Toronto) and South coach Bob McMahon (Albany), selected the reserves.

The North's starters will be forwards Chris Gill (Vancouver - 53G, 37A), John Grant (Rochester - 52G, 53A) and Colin Doyle (Toronto - 47G, 33A); defensemen Pat Coyle (Toronto - 4G, 12A) and Jim Veltman (Toronto - 16G, 37A); and goaltender Bob Watson (9-3, 76.44%, 11.54 GAA).

Gill is a former member of the Rock, leaving Grant as the only starter who has never played for Bartley.

The South team counters with three Washington players -- forwards Paul Gait (Washington - 54G, 60A) and Gary Gait (Washington - 50G, 61A), and defenseman Paul Cantabene (Washington - 18G, 40A). Forward Josh Sanderson (Albany - 35G, 68A), defenseman Cam Woods (Albany - 8G, 15A) and goaltender Rob Blasdell (13-2, 77.50%, 12.01 GAA) fill out the starting six.

Each side boasts a roster of ten forwards, five defensemen and three goaltender, with every NLL team represented. Ten clubs are represented by at least two, and seven clubs send at least three.

Toronto and Rochester lead the North with five representatives, Vancouver sends four players, Montreal two, and Calgary and Ottawa one each.

The North roster contains five Albany players; three each from Buffalo, Philadelphia and Washington; two from New York and one from New Jersey.

The All-Star Game will be televised live at 2:00 PM Eastern in the United States on CNN/Sports Illustrated, and on a delayed basis in Canada on Rogers Sportsnet (time and day to be announced).
