Vancouver Ravens assistant coach Rod Jensen has accepted an offer to join Colorado's new team as head coach, the Vancouver Province reports today.

The as-yet-unnamed Colorado franchise is the former Washington Power, which moved to Denver this summer after two seasons of poor attendance in Washington.

Colorado was forced to find a new skipper when former head coach Darris Kilgour left to become head coach of the Buffalo Bandits on 30 July. Kilgour had coached the team during both seasons in Washington, posting a regular-season record of 18-12 and a playoff mark of 1-2.

Commenting on the chance to coach legendary player Gary Gait, Jensen quipped, "It'll be, 'Gary, here's the ball. I'll get the water bottle and I'll get out of your way,'"

Jensen worked with the Ravens' offensive zone players last season, the team's first year in the NLL. Jensen scored 190 goals and posted 270 assists in nine years with the Vancouver Burrards (Western Lacrosse Association), retiring from the team in 1992.

Jensen, a former head coach of the WLA's North Shore Indians, will commute to Denver from his home in Richmond, British Columbia.
