The Colorado Mammoth unveiled their new jerseys Thursday at the Pepsi Center in Denver, with star player Gary Gait and others sporting the silver, black, and maroon outfits.

A major sponsorship deal with Frontier Airlines was formally announced at the same time, news that was expected for quite some time.

Colorado Mammoth players model the team's new jerseys.

The Mammoth's home jerseys are dominantly light gray, with darker gray across the shoulders and down the arms, with the team's Tusk-M logo on the front. A mountain, in gray, maroon, and black, appears near the waist. The road jersey is similar, with a maroon chest fading to black around the shoulders.

Both versions will feature a patch with the logo of Frontier Airlines, which has signed a multi-year deal to be the presenting sponsor of the Mammoth.

"Sponsoring a professional sports team is an exciting first for Frontier Airlines," Frontier senior director of marketing and brand management Ian Arthur said. "We were drawn to sponsoring the Mammoth because it is a new and up-and-coming professional sport that families can affordably enjoy. It’s been a pleasure working with the Mammoth and we look forward to many promotional opportunities in the years to come."

"This is a mammoth moment for our franchise," Kroenke Sports senior vice president Tom Philand said. "We’re especially proud to have such a prominent hometown player make this commitment to developing our new team and a new major league sport in the region."

Kroenke Sports purchased the team this summer from Steve Comiskey and relocated it to Denver from Washington, D.C., where it played as the Power.

"We believe this to be a unique sponsorship in American professional sports," Philand added. "Frontier is aligning itself on a major level with this team for an extended period of time, not just presenting a single season."

The deal between Frontier and the Mammoth will run for at least three seasons, during which the airline's name and logo will be prominently displayed in connection with the team. Financial terms were not disclosed, although the Outsider's Guide has learned that the total dollar value of the deal could reach into seven digits.

Frontier Airlines is a 36-plane operation providing flights from Denver to 37 cities, mostly in the western United States. In business since July 1994, Frontier is noted for the colorful decals featured on the tails of its jets. The 21-foot-high images include pictures of bobcats, elk, moose, pelicans, and wolves.
