Bandits ship Ogilvie to VancouverWLA veteran to play for hometown clubR.A. Philly Outsider's Guide Editor in Chief The Buffalo Bandits today traded veteran defenseman Andy Ogilvie to the Vancouver Ravens for a first-round draft pick. Ogilvie, the longtime Western Lacrosse Association standout, had been flying from British Columbia to Buffalo each week for games. "We’re really pleased to add such a veteran defensive player to the Raven mix," Ravens head coach Paul Dal Monte said. "Andy will not only anchor the defensive end for the Ravens, but he’s a proven leader and makes those players around him that much better by the example he sets both on and off the turf." "This acquisition reflects the commitment we’ve made to the Vancouver fans to put the best possible product on the floor to make that transition from playoff contender to championship contender," Dal Monte added. Drafted by Buffalo in the sixth round of the 1998 National Lacrosse League draft, Ogilvie has recorded seven goals and 49 assists in his 47-game, five-season career. That total includes a pair of playoff assists; Ogilvie has never scored a postseason goal. In return for Ogilvie, the Ravens give up a first-round draft pick in either 2005 or 2006. -30- |
