Toronto Rock forward Kevin Finneran announced his retirement today, closing out a thirteen-season career marked by durability.

Finneran ends his career without having missed a game in over a decade, a streak extending over 138 regular-season games and 157 overall.

"It will be tough to replace the skill and leadership of Kevin Finneran," Rock interim head coach Ed Comeau said. "He was an excellent addition to our team last year and was a key contributor to our [2003] championship."

Finneran played one season for the Rock, scoring 25 goals and delivering 30 assists (plus three playoff assists) as Toronto won its fourth NLL Champion's Cup in five years.

Finneran entered the Major Indoor Lacrosse League in 1991, with the New England Blazers, recording eleven goals and nine assists in nine games.

A year later, Finneran was off to Detroit, where he netted seven goals and dished out seven assists for the Turbos.

However, he will best be remembered for his decade-long stint with the Philadelphia Wings, during which he tallied 219 goals, 332 assists, and four league championships (1994, 1995, 1998, and 2001).

By retiring, Finneran drops out of the league's alltime endurance race. Ex-teammates Dallas Eliuk (Philadelphia 1993-2001, and still the Wings' goaltender), Gary Gait (Philadelphia 1993-1997, now with Colorado), and Tim Soudan (New England 1991, now with Rochester) are entering their fourteenth professional seasons.
