Fans attending the National Lacrosse League All Star Game later this month will have little trouble recognizing the Western Division starters.

Three Colorado Mammoth will be in the starting lineup for the midseason exhibition, to be held on Sunday, 22 February on their home turf, Denver's Pepsi Center.

Forwards Gary Gait and Gavin Prout and goaltender Gord Nash will open the game on the floor for the West.

They'll be joined by Mammoth coach Jamie Batley, who will coach the Western All Stars. Batley and Buffalo Bandits skipper Darris Kilgour, who will lead the East, earned their spots for coaching the first-place team in their respective divisions.

The assistant coaches -- Calgary Roughnecks head coach Chris Hall and Rochester Knighthawks skipper Paul Day -- lead the second-place teams.

The twelve starting players, meanwhile, were selected by a combination of votes from general managers, league media, and fans, and were announced by the league today.

The other Western Division starters are forward Tracey Kelusky (Calgary Roughnecks) and defensemen Andy Ogilvie (Vancouver Ravens) and Jim Moss (San Jose Stealth).

The Toronto Rock matched Colorado with three All Star starters -- forwards Blaine Manning and Colin Doyle and defenseman Pat Coyle.

They will be joined on the floor by Buffalo Bandits forward John Tavares and a pair of Knighthawks, defenseman Mike Hasen and goaltender Pat O'Toole.

The Anaheim Storm, Arizona Sting and Philadelphia Wings did not receive a single starting nod, but fear not -- the reserves, eleven runners and a goaltender for each side, will be announced later this week.

A look at the All Star Game starters and coaches:

EASTERN DIVISION

Colin Doyle leads the Rock with fourteen goals, eighteen assists and 32 points in five games. His point total is good for fifth in the league.

Blaine Manning is close behind Doyle in all offensive categories, having recorded eleven goals, seventeen assists, and 28 points for the Rock this season.

John Tavares' seventeen goals leave him tied for third in the NLL, and his seventeen assists are good for seventh-best.

Pat Coyle, Toronto's leading defender for the past few years, has scooped up nineteen loose balls this year, and has tacked on four assists.

Mike Hasen has 26 loose ball recoveries and one assist for the Knighthawks in 2004.

Pat O'Toole has posted a 10.65 goals-against average, third-best in NLL, and a 74.0 save percentage. His 179 saves are fifth-most in the league.

Darris Kilgour's Bandits are 4-2 this season, and winners of their last three games. As a coach, Kilgour has never missed the playoffs, and is the reigning NLL Coach of the Year.

Paul Day has rallied the Knighthawks from an 0-2 start to a 3-3 record and a tie for second place in the Eastern Division. Last season, he led Rochester to a league-best 12-4 record.

WESTERN DIVISION

Gary Gait has recorded eighteen goals, 20 assists and 38 points this season, second in the league (behind Prout) in all three categories.

Tracey Kelusky has ten goals and sixteen assists in 2004, leading the Roughnecks in the latter category. He has also recovered 30 loose balls.

Gavin Prout, signed by the Mammoth as a free agent this past fall, leads the league in goals (20), assists (25), and points (45). He also has tallied 57 loose balls, second-best in the NLL.

Jim Moss, last season's NLL Defensive Player of the Year, has scored five goals this season. He also has 23 loose balls.

Andy Ogilvie has led the Ravens' defense with 47 loose ball recoveries, following his preseason acquisition from Buffalo. Offensively, he has a pair of goals and four assists.

Gord Nash, another Mammoth free agent signing, is having another of his big-save seasons, stopping 219 shots so far this season. His 78.2 save percentage is third-best in the league, his 11.30 goals-against average fifth-best.

Jamie Batley has skippered the Mammoth to a 5-2 record this season, best in the league, after taking over at midseason last year and guiding the team to a 9-7 record and the Eastern Division title.

Chris Hall has coached the Roughnecks to a 4-2 mark, second-best in NLL West. After a 4-12 debut season (2002), Hall led the Riggers to a 9-7 record and a playoff berth.
