The 2005 National Lacrosse League All Star Game will be held in Calgary, the league announced today.

The game will be held on Sunday, 27 February 2005, at the Pengrowth Saddledome.

"I’d like to congratulate the Calgary Roughnecks, the Pengrowth Saddledome, the city of Calgary and all of the great lacrosse fans here in Alberta on being awarded the 2005 All-Star Game," NLL commissioner Jim Jennings said at a press conference today at the Saddledome.

"In three short years, Calgary has grown from expansion city to become one of the top cities for the NLL. The All-Star honor is well deserved. We look forward to seeing a great All-Star Game here in February of 2005."

The Roughnecks partnered with the Saddledome and the NHL's Calgary Flames for the winning bid, beating out the Toronto Rock and the Air Canada Centre. No other teams attempted to host the game.

The NLL made the All Star Game an annual event, beginning this season with February's contest at Pepsi Center in Denver. The Eastern Division defeated the Western Division in that game, 19-15.
