Déjà vu all over again: Williams named Player of WeekKnighthawks forward wins for third time in four weeksR.A. Philly Outsider's Guide Editor in Chief For the second straight week, the National Lacrosse League has named Rochester Knighthawks forward Shawn Williams and goaltender Pat O'Toole as Players of the Week for Week Sixteen, the games of 9-10 April. Calgary Roughnecks defenseman Brad MacDonald was also honored. Williams, the Overall and Offensive Player of the Week, scored six goals, including the game-winner, and served up two assists as the Knighthawks defeated the Toronto Rock, 13-11, at Air Canada Centre on Friday. O'Toole, selected as the Defensive Player of the Week, recorded 42 saves on 53 shots in Toronto. Rochester's victory not only was its first-ever in Toronto, following eight losses, but it also secured home-floor advantage for next week's Eastern Division semifinal against Buffalo. MacDonald, the Rookie of the Week, tallied a goal and two assists as the Roughnecks crushed the Anaheim Storm, 19-11, Friday night at the Saddledome. MacDonald also recovered four loose balls. Williams has won three of the last four Overall awards and five Offensive awards this season, and has now been honored eight times in his career. O'Toole has also been on Top Players list eight times, including thrice this season, while MacDonald is a debut winner. -30- |
