The National Lacrosse League today named Colorado Mammoth president and general manager Steve Govett as the Executive of the Year, following balloting by the league's governors and general managers.

Previous Winners:
2003 Brad Banister
       Calgary
2002 Tom Mayenknecht
       Vancouver
2001 Russ Cline
       Philadelphia

The Mammoth finished a league-best 13-3 this season, in large part due to Govett's aggressive free agent signings last summer and fall. Govett added, among others, goaltender Gord Nash and forward Gavin Prout to a team that already was among the best in the league.

Nash led the league in goals-against average and was selected last week as the NLL's Goaltender of the Year, while Prout finished third in scoring and is expected to be named to the All-Pro Team on Wednesday.

In addition to their on-field exploits, the Mammoth led the league in attendance this season, averaging 17,618 fans per game at Pepsi Center. Five games were sellouts, drawing crowds in excess of 18,000.

Govett also led the Mammoth's successful bid to host this season's All Star Game, on 22 February.

The league now gets into its oldest and most prestigious awards the rest of the way -- the Rookie of the Year and All-Rookie Team tomorrow, the All-Pro Teams on Wednesday, and the Most Valuable Player on Thursday.
