For the second time in 2004, Denver will play host to the world's best indoor lacrosse players next month.

The Colorado Mammoth announced today that the 2004 Heritage Cup, pitting Team USA against Team Canada, will be held at Pepsi Center, on Saturday, 16 October at 7:00 PM Mountain (9:00 PM Eastern).

The Mammoth previously hosted the National Lacrosse League's All Star Game on Sunday, 22 February, an exciting 19-15 Eastern Division triumph witnessed by almost 17,000 fans.

"We are thrilled to be hosting this game in Denver and look forward to a tremendous international match up, with the stars of lacrosse in both lineups," Mammoth general manager Steve Govett said.

"Our goal in bringing the game to Denver and Pepsi Center is to set the attendance record for an international lacrosse event. We know the people of Denver will respond as they have to the Mammoth."

Govett will double as the general manager of the American side, with San Jose Stealth coach Johnny Mouradian filling that role for the Canadians.

Team rosters will be announced in early October.

This will be the second Heritage Cup game, following Team USA's 21-16 victory two years ago at Hershey Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. That day, the Americans exploded for a 12-2 halftime lead and never looked back.

"The 2002 Heritage Cup set the tone for this incredible game," Govett said. "Since that time the international lacrosse community has been asking if Team USA could do it again, and we are certainly going to give our best effort. This should make for another epic lacrosse battle in Denver."

Tickets go on sale Monday at noon Mountain (2:00 PM Eastern) at the Pepsi Center box office and all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 303.830.TIXS, and online at ticketmaster.com. Tickets are also included in all Mammoth season ticket packages.
