As the Rookie of the Year, Boyle also leads the fifth annual All-Rookie Team, which was also announced today.

Boyle, the third-overall pick in last fall's NLL Entry Draft, led all rookies this season in points (64), goals (22), assists (42), and loose balls (95). His point total was good for 21st league-wide.

Among the Stealth, Boyle led in assists; was second in goals, points and loose balls; and tied for third in power play goals (five).

Boyle was one of the league's leading award recipients this season, earning two Rookie of the Week awards (Weeks 2 and 4), and two Rookie of the Month awards (January and March). He also was the only rookie chosen for the 2005 All Star Game, tallying one assist in the West's 11-10 loss.

The only thing Boyle couldn't do, it seemed, was manufacture victories -- the Stealth finished with a league-worst 4-12 record.

"I can’t tell you how ecstatic I am about winning this award," Boyle said. "It’s unfortunate that the team did not do better than we did, but coming in not knowing what to expect and knowing that I contributed feels good."

Boyle is joined on the All-Rookie team by (in order of votes received) Buffalo Bandits forward Delby Powless, Philadelphia Wings forward Andrew Burkholder, Anaheim Storm defenseman Rory Glaves, Minnesota Swarm forward Ryder Bateman, and Philadelphia defenseman Dan Finck.

This is the third straight year that no goaltender made the All-Rookie Team.

All-Rookie Team statistics are listed below.

The end-of-season awards announcements continue Wednesday with the All-Pro Teams and conclude Thursday with the selection of the Most Valuable Player.
