Anaheim dispersal draft slated for WednesdayPlayers to be selected from shuttered StormR.A. Philly Outsider's Guide Editor in Chief The National Lacrosse League will conduct a dispersal draft of Anaheim Storm players Wednesday afternoon. The two-round draft, necessary after the Storm suspended operations in June, will be held via conference call, beginning at 4:00 PM Eastern. Teams are not required to select players, but for each player taken, that team must release a player from its 23-man active roster. Portland and Edmonton, as expansion teams, are exempt from this rule. Selection order is based on last season's results, with the first-year teams drafting first, then the non-playoff teams, then the six postseason qualifiers. Edmonton selects before Portland as the result of a coin flip. All teams except Buffalo and Toronto have at least one pick in the dispersal draft. The Bandits and Rock traded their first-round selections in trades after last week's expansion draft, and only the expansion teams and playoff non-qualifiers will be drafting in the second round. The order of selection is as follows: ## TEAM -- ------------------- 1 Edmonton 2 Portland 3 San Jose 4 Minnesota 5 Philadelphia 6 Colorado 7 Calgary 8 Rochester 9 Arizona (Buff) 10 Arizona 11 Portland (Toro) 12 Edmonton 13 Portland 14 San Jose 15 Minnesota 16 Philadelphia -30- |
