The Minnesota Swarm today named Adam Mueller as its head coach, replacing Mike Simpson.

Simpson resigned after a 5-11 campaign in 2005, the club's debut season.

Mueller, the Swarm's assistant coach last season, had been head coach of the Philadelphia Wings from 2002 to 2004, compiling a 23-26 record (including one playoff appearance).

"I look forward to working alongside Adam," said general manager Marty O'Neill, who held the same position in Philadelphia when Mueller was the Wings' coach.

"[Adam] did a great job in our first year as an assistant coach, and will help us become even more competitive in our second season."

Prior to succeeding Tony Resch as the Wings' head coach, Mueller spent one year as an assistant coach with the team, winning the 2001 NLL Champion's Cup.

Before that, Mueller had an eleven-year playing career, including stints with Detroit (1990-1994), Baltimore (1995-1996), Philadelphia (1997-1999) and Albany (2000).

In seventy-six career regular season games, Mueller recorded 122 points (51 goals, 71 assists). He played for two championship teams, the 1991 Turbos and 1998 Wings.

The Swarm did not announce a successor to Mueller as assistant coach.
