The expansion Edmonton Rush really did unveil a logo today which is black, white, medium gray, and nothing else.

The logo features a script "Rush" in black with white shading, and "Edmonton" in black capital letters above that. Two black spikes extend rightward from the 'H' in "Rush."

In the team's words, the logo "[takes] its cue from skateboard culture, RPG video games and chopper graphics.

All around the logo, little chunks are taken out of the word Rush, a "distressed look [which] proudly boasts the marks of battle" (again, the team's words, not ours).

The result is a forboding, metallic image which rivals perhaps only the Oakland Raiders' logo for monochromaticity.

"We are proud of the Rush identity," team president Duane Vienneau said. "We believe it represents who we are both on and off the field, and a mark that lacrosse fans would be excited to wear."

Edmonton, which will host the 2005 NLL Entry Draft on Monday, was awarded the expansion Rush franchise in May.
