On Friday, the Portland LumberJax traded defenseman Ryan Sharp to the Minnesota Swarm for three draft picks.

This was the second trade in three days between the Swarm and LumberJax. On Wednesday, Portland sent Mike Hominuck to Portland for Kelly Hall.

In exchange for Sharp, Portland receives Minnesota's first- and second-round selections in the 2007 Entry Draft and the Swarm's third-round pick in 2008.

In five games this season, Sharp has tallied five assists, ten penalty minutes, and 40 loose ball recoveries. The third-year pro has seventeen goals and nineteen assists in his career.

"It's never easy to trade quality individuals. Ryan is a very good player and was one of the main reasons we were so successful last season," LumberJax head coach Derek Keenan said. "I saw this as an excellent opportunity for us to build for the future."

Portland filled Sharp's roster spot by signing veteran defenseman Darren Reisig. In 80 career games, Reisig has totalled 25 goals and 30 assists.
