Tavares leads Week Ten top players listFive goals in win at Swarm; Lough, Toll, Mundorf honoredNLL Press Release The National Lacrosse League announced the Week Ten player awards on Wednesday.
Buffalo Bandits veteran forward John Tavares was named both the Overall Player of the Week and the Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in a 16-15 road victory over the Minnesota Swarm on Sunday. Arizona Sting defenseman Peter Lough earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, Rochester's Steve Toll was named Transition Player of the Week and New York Titans forward Brendan Mundorf was named Rookie of the Week. Tavares scored five goals and added four assists for nine points in the Bandits' 16-15 win Sunday afternoon in the win and also collected four loose balls. Lough led an Arizona defense that allowed only seven goals in an 11-7 home victory over the Chicago Shamrox on Friday. Lough collected eight loose balls and won 17 of 22 faceoffs in the victory. Toll recorded three assists and collected 15 loose balls in the Knighthawks' 14-13 win at Philadelphia. Mundorf scored three goals and added two assists for five points and collected two loose balls in a 13-10 home win over the Toronto Rock on Saturday. The Weekly Player Awards are determined by a vote of the General Managers and Head Coaches of the league's thirteen member clubs. -30- |
