Lucky Thirteen: Tavares named Player of Week

Baker's dozen of points in win over Mammoth; Watson 6 goals allowed

The National Lacrosse League today announced the Week Thirteen player awards.

Buffalo Bandits forward John Tavares was named both the Overall Player of the Week and the Offensive Player of the Week, Toronto Rock goaltender Bob Watson was named Defensive Player of the Week and Rock forward Ryan Benesch was named Rookie of the Week. Mark Steenhuis of the Buffalo Bandits earned Transition Player of the Week honors.

Tavares scored thirteen points on seven goals and six assists, including two power play goals, in a 19-15 home win over the Colorado Mammoth. Tavares also collected five loose balls in the victory.

Watson recorded 47 saves and allowed only six goals in a 13-6 road win over the Minnesota Swarm.

Steenhuis scored two goals and added three assists for five points and collected seven loose balls in a 19-15 win over the Colorado Mammoth.

Benesch scored five points on four goals and one assist, including one power play goal, and collected two loose balls in the Rock's 13-6 victory at Minnesota.

The Weekly Player Awards are determined by a vote of the General Managers and Head Coaches of the league's thirteen member clubs.
