Colorado will host debut of NLL Outdoor

Gary Gait to suit up for Mammoth against NLL stars

NLL Press Release

The National Lacrosse League will hold its first ever professional outdoor lacrosse game with the NLL Outdoor Showcase on Saturday, 1 September, the league announced Monday.

The exhibition will played at the brand-new Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado and will feature many prominent NLL players. The game will be hosted by the Colorado Mammoth. Lacrosse legend and Colorado Mammoth head coach Gary Gait headlines the list of players who will play in the game.

"This game will be a historic first for our league, and an important step in our continued exploration into a potential NLL outdoor league," NLL commissioner Jim Jennings said.

"The fan base, sponsors and media we've built up over 21 seasons of indoor lacrosse has led us to study the idea of expanding our reach to the outdoor game. We look forward to the first NLL Outdoor Showcase event."

Gait, who has not played in a professional game since retiring two years ago, will play for the Colorado Mammoth against a team of NLL all-stars. Also scheduled to play in the event will be NLL stars Gavin Prout, Brian Langtry, Dan Carey, John Grant, Colin Doyle, Brodie Merrill and Taylor Wray, along with standout players Sean Morris and Kyle Harrison. Additional players will be named.

"Seeing Gary Gait play again is a dream come true for Colorado lacrosse fans," Mammoth general manager Steve Govett said. "To see him on the same field with this roster of superstars makes this a once-in-a-lifetime event."

Tickets start at US$5.00 and are on sale now online at TicketHorse.com, by phone at 866.461.6556, at the Dick's Sporting Goods Park box office and all Colorado Dick's Sporting Goods stores.
