Jeff Zywicki nets Player of the Week awardsSelected as Overall and Offensive; Bold, Quinlan, Point honoredNLL Press Release San Jose's Jeff Zywicki was named Wednesday as the National Lacrosse League's Overall Player and Offensive Player of the Week for Week Six after scoring a combined eight goals, seven assists and 14 loose balls in two games.
The 26-year-old Zywicki scored three goals and three assists in the Stealth's 12-7 win over New York on Thursday at Madison Square Garden, and added five goals and four assists in Saturday's 14-12 loss to Minnesota at HP Pavlion. Zywicki, who was also named the top Overall Player and Offensive Player in Week Three, currently leads the league in goals (17) and points (33). The Stealth are 2-3 after the weekend split. Teammate Aaron Bold was named Defensive Player of the Week. The 22-year-old backup goaltender to Anthony Cosmo recorded 46 saves and allowed just seven goals in the Stealth's 12-7 win at New York on Thursday. He also played the final 5:33 on Saturday on his home turf, notching two saves and allowing one goal against Minnesota. Bold is second in the league in both goals against average (7.78 per game) and save percentage (84.5%). Minnesota's Craig Point was named Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. The 21-year-old righthander scored two goals and five assists in the Swarm's 14-12 win over San Jose on Saturday. Edmonton's Jimmy Quinlan was named Transition Player of the Week. The 26-year-old lefthander scored three goals in the Rush's 11-10 loss to Portland on Saturday at Rexall Place. Quinlan added two assists and nine loose balls. -30- |
