The San Jose Stealth yesterday traded 2007 Goaltender of the Year Anthony Cosmo to the Chicago Shamrox for Matt Roik and first-round selections in the 2008 and 2009 entry drafts.

With Chicago's top draft pick in hand, San Jose now owns the second- and third-overall selections in this year's entry draft, to be held next weekend.

The center of the trade, though, is Cosmo, back in the Eastern Division after four seasons with San Jose. Cosmo began his career with Toronto, for whom he played from 2001 to 2004 before being dealt to the Stealth.

After two down seasons, San Jose reached the playoffs each of the past two years. In 2008, Cosmo coupled a career-best 79.53 save percentage with a 10.70 goals-against average, leading the Stealth to the best record in the Western Division.

Roik, meanwhile, finds himself on his third team in less than a year. After starting the 2008 season on the bench in Philadelphia, he was traded midseason to the Shamrox in a deal that netted the Wings netminder Brandon Miller.

Roik played well with Chicago, posting a 12.31 goals-against average and a 78.8 save percentage in nine games. Roik saw his first game action with New Jersey in 2002, playing four seasons with the Storm before joining Philadelphia in 2006.
