NLL removes 'interim' from Daniel's titleLongtime deputy will remain as commissioner through 2011NLL Press Release The National Lacrosse League announced Tuesday that the Board of Governors has retained George Daniel as commissioner through the 2011 season. Daniel had been serving as interim commissioner since his appointment on 10 January, following the resignation of former commissioner Jim Jennings. Prior to his appointment as interim commissioner, Daniel was deputy commissioner, chief operating officer and the league's general counsel for the 2001 to 2006 seasons as well as the 2008 season. During his tenure as deputy commissioner, Daniel led the league's efforts in collective bargaining negotiations as well as television and sponsorship contract negotiations. Daniel also served as president of the New York Titans for the 2007 season. "I would like to thank the Board of Governors for their continued confidence and support. I look forward to the opportunity of leading an emerging and dynamic professional sports league like the NLL," Daniel said. "I am very excited about the future of the NLL and the sport of lacrosse." "During the past season, George demonstrated the leadership skills and experience to carry the league forward," said Steve Govett, president of the Colorado Mammoth and chairman of the NLL Board of Governors.
