Vinc is the second goaltender to win the monthly award this season (Bob Watson was the January Player of the Month). Both Rookie of the Month awards this season have been won by Toronto Rock players (teammate Garrett Billings won the award for January). In February, Vinc went 2-1 in three games played and led all starting goaltenders with an 8.62 goals-against average. Vinc posted a save percentage of .838 for the month, stopping 145 out of 173 shots faced. He was the league's Defensive Player of the Week after a 52 saves performance against Toronto on February 27. Vinc also played all 76 minutes of the longest game in league history, a 12-11 loss to Boston in double overtime on 20 February. Leblanc won the Rookie of the Month Award for a productive February, scoring 14 goals and 17 assists for a total of 31 points in six games. Leblanc had back-to-back stellar weeks early in the month, winning consecutive Rookie of the Week awards. On the weekend of 5-6 February, he scored five goals and nine assists in helping the Rock win games over Philadelphia and Buffalo. The following weekend, Leblanc contributed five goals and six assists for eleven points spread over two games in a weekend split. This is the first month-end award for both Vinc and Leblanc. The monthly awards are voted on by the general managers and head coaches of the league's eleven member clubs. MATT VINC STEPHAN LEBLANC -30- |
