All-Star Game starters announcedWings, K'Hawks lead with three starters eachNLL Press Release The first phase of the selection process has been completed for the rosters for the first-ever National Lacrosse League All-Star Game. The NLL announced today the starters for each of the two teams in the game to be played on Saturday, 20 February at the Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial. These players were chosen through fan balloting over the league’s website. The starting five for the team made up of Canadian born players will be (in order of votes received): Gary Gait (Baltimore Thunder), Paul Gait (Syracuse Smash), Tom Marechek (Philadelphia Wings), John Tavares (Buffalo Bandits), and Chris Driscoll (Rochester Knighthawks). The starting five for the team comprised of U.S. and Indigenous players will be: Kevin Finneran (Philadelphia Wings), Casey Powell (Rochester Knighthawks), Mark Millon (New York Saints), Jake Bergey (Philadelphia Wings), and Cory Bomberry (Rochester Knighthawks). Each team will be made up of sixteen runners and two goalies. The next group of five for each team will come from balloting done among NLL players. The third group of five (as well as each All-Star Team’s two goaltenders) will be chosen by the head coaches of the two All-Star Teams (the Team USA's Tony Resch, from the Philadelphia Wings, and Team Canada's Paul Day, from the Rochester Knighthawks). The sixteenth player on each All-Star Team will be a Commissioner’s Selection. -30- |
