Saturday not just for the All Stars

NLL Press Release

The National Lacrosse League’s first-ever All-Star Game has turned into an array of activities for lacrosse fans.

"We set out to present to all of our fans the opportunity to be active participants in this showcase event," said NLL Commissioner John Livsey. "Whether families want to come out and meet the stars in the afternoon or see them shine at night, we have a full day of activities to satisfy all fans’ interests."

Before the first shot on goal is even taken in the game, fans will have had a chance to try out their own stick skills. As part of Fan Fest, the NLL’s Shooting Stars inflatable game will be on hand for those coming to the arena during the day to check the speed and accuracy of their shots. NLL team mascots will also be roaming the Blue Cross Arena atrium. A local Rochester company, RPS, will be making All-Star t-shirts on site! The NLL’s Champions Cup will also be on display, along with trophies provided by Waterford Crystal for the winning All-Star team as well as the All-Star Game MVP. Videos of NLL action will also be shown, and the biggest attraction is sure to be autograph signings by both teams. At 1:00 PM, the American All-Star Team will conduct a clinic on the arena floor with a local youth lacrosse team while the Canadian All-Star Team signs autographs in the atrium. At 2:00, the two teams will then switch when a different local youth lacrosse team comes in for a clinic. The clinics are being given to the two teams which sold the most All-Star Game tickets. Fan Fest is free and open to the public. Doors open at 1:00.

The evening portion begins at 7:00 PM with a Skills Competition. Players from the two All-Star teams will participate in rapid fire and breakaway events. The game will start at approximately 7:50 PM. Doors open for the game at 6:00 PM The first 10,000 fans through the turnstiles will receive a collector’s set of NLL All-Star trading cards. The set of twelve depicts the starters in the game, and are being done by Choice Marketing of Philadelphia, PA.

After the final horn, fans can attend a post-game party at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel that will also be attended by the All-Star teams. Jock rock band Nik and the Nice Guys, who just returned from the Super Bowl, will perform.
