Smash that Casey Powell-to-Syracuse rumor.

The Syracuse Smash of the National Lacrosse League admittedly would love to trade for Rochester's budding second-year superstar, but it probably won't be happening.

Knighthawks general manager Jody Gage says a report of a three-team trade that would send Syracuse's Paul Gait to Pittsburgh (for a reunion with brother Gary Gait), Powell to Syracuse and a batch of players from Pittsburgh and Syracuse to Rochester is news to him.

"I'd listen to any offers. That's my job," Gage said yesterday. "But I can't imagine any offer that would motivate me to trade Casey Powell."
