Saints trade Millon to Syracuse in exchange of picks
New York gets Chris Prat, gains extra first-round pick
NLL Press Release
The Syracuse Smash and New York Saints completed a trade today which sent forward Mark Millon to Syracuse and forward Chris Prat to Long Island, and in which the two clubs exchanged draft picks.
The two teams swapped positions in the second round of this month's National Lacrosse League Draft, to be held on Tuesday, 21 September, at Marine Midland Arena in Buffalo. Syracuse will now have the fourth pick in that round. The Saints will select third, with a pick originally owned by Buffalo but for which an option to claim it was just exercised by the Smash. This resulted from a trade with the Bandits during the September 1998 Draft, involving Jamie Batley, in which Syracuse received the choice of the Bandits' second round pick in this or next year's draft.
In today's trade the Saints also received Syracuse's pick in the first round of this month's draft (third overall) which the Smash had obtained (from Buffalo) in a three-team trade in March.
The current order for the first round of this year's draft is as follows:
1. Albany
2. Rochester (from Syracuse)
3. New York (from Buffalo via Syracuse)
4. New York
5. Philadelphia
6. Buffalo (from Rochester)
7. Philadelphia (from Baltimore)
8. Toronto
Amended 2 September 1999 to remove inaccuracies in draft order. The Outsider's Guide contributed to this article.
