Pittsburgh trades goaltender to Philadelphia

Sanderson joins Wings; McCavera sent to CrosseFire

The Pittsburgh CrosseFire and Philadelphia Wings completed a trade today which sent goaltender Chris Sanderson to the Wings in exchange for Greg McCavera.

Sanderson played in all twelve games last season when the CrosseFire were the Baltimore Thunder. The University of Virginia product finished tied for second in the voting for 1998-99 National Lacrosse League Rookie of the Year. He led the league in wins (eight) and finished second in both minutes played and saves.

McCavera was chosen in the first round, fifth overall, by Philadelphia in the NLL Draft in September. The 5'8", 180 pound attackman had 88 points (46 goals, 42 assists) in sixteen games in 1999 with the Georgetown Hoyas (NCAA Division I). He was a DI First Team All-American and played in the North-South Game. McCavera, 22, was a Second Team All-American following the 1998 season and an Honorable Mention All-American in 1997.
