Exhibition schedule begins this weekend
Six teams in action, including a four-way scrimmage in Philly
NLL Press Release
The National Lacrosse League teams will close out the 1900s with games which will help determine the rosters for the first NLL season of the 2000s. Beginning this Saturday, training camps -- ongoing since 16 October -- advance to game situations as six of the eight clubs participate in exhibitions over the course of the day.
Buffalo and Rochester will tangle this Saturday night in a game where newcomers will battle to impress coaches and general managers in the hope of landing one of the 23-man roster spots. Like the training camp hopefuls, some fans are new to the pro indoor game as well. So, fans arriving early at the game will have an opportunity to learn the game from Knighthawk players and coaches. They will be on the floor from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, giving a special instructional clinic for all new lacrosse fans, including rules of the game and lacrosse strategy.
This Saturday will also feature a "four-way" in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, featuring that state’s two teams (Philadelphia and Pittsburgh), as well as the New York Saints and the expansion Albany Attack. There will be a total of six games, with the first beginning at 2:00 PM and the last at 7:00 PM.
The full exhibition schedule follows. The regular season opens on 7 January 2000, with Albany visiting Philadelphia.
