Bandits lead Experts Poll for fifth straight week

Buffalo gains point on second-place Toronto; Wings crack top six

Earlier this season, no team could hang on to the top spot in the Lacrosse-Network.com Experts Poll -- four leaders in the first four weeks.

What a difference two months can make.

The Buffalo Bandits are again atop the Experts Poll this week, leading for the fifth consecutive time and sixth overall.

What's more, the Bandits picked up a point following Saturday 12-10 win over third-ranked Rochester, moving up to 142 points (matching the highest score recorded this season, which they set a month ago). Buffalo garnered ten first-place votes.

The other two number-one votes went to Toronto, which slipped one point, to 134, despite defeating Vancouver, 11-7.

Rochester also stumbled a bit, losing two points from last week following the loss in Buffalo. The Knighthawks are still solidly in third place, though, with 118 points. They probably won't stay at number three much longer, with Toronto coming to town this weekend.

Calgary and Colorado, both of whom sat idle last week, round out the unchanged top five, with 102 and 96 points, respectively.

Philadelphia moves up a spot this week to sixth, becoming the first newcomer to crack the top half of the rankings since Calgary did it five weeks ago. The Wings, who defeated New York twice last weekend (both one-goal contests), received 83 points, their best total of the season.

Columbus dropped one spot to seventh (67 points), while Vancouver rallied past Albany for eighth, 60-59. Ironically, while the Ravens split their two games this past week, the Attack won its only match, a solid 11-7 victory over the Landsharks.

Ottawa remains in tenth place, at 37 points, but New York is narrowing the gap considerably. The Saints, gaining a bit of respect for their play this week, rose to 23 points, their highest total of the season. New Jersey remains in the cellar, with 15 points.

Our panel of twelve experts (one from each NLL city) includes a wide range of top lacrosse minds, including Outsider's Guide writers, players, and coaches. Scoring is on a 12-11-10-etc. basis, so that the maximum score a team can earn is 144 points and the minimum is twelve points.

The complete rankings from this week's Experts Poll, with comments (win-loss record through Sunday is in parentheses):
