Rock edges Bandits in Experts Poll

Toronto slipping as playoffs begin; little other change

In an otherwise uneventful week in the Lacrosse-Network.com, the Toronto Rock made news by squandering just about all of its lead over second-place Buffalo.

Toronto remains in first place despite getting drubbed 20-12 Sunday afternoon in Calgary, but is now just one point clear of the Bandits, 86-85. The teams are also very close on first-place votes, with the Rock prevailing on five of nine ballots.

The rest of the rankings not only were unchanged in order, but, for the most part, had little movement in points. Calgary still leads Arizona for third place, but instead of a 69-60 lead, the Roughnecks are ahead 70-61.

The battle for fifth place is no different, with Rochester losing two points from last week but still ahead of Colorado (which was level), 56-47 -- an interesting outcome, since the teams met last weekend in Rochester, with the Knighthawks pulling out a 13-12 victory.

Among the non-playoff teams, Philadelphia (35 points) remains comfortably ahead of Anaheim (27 points), leaving Minnesota (15 points) and San Jose (13 points) far behind in the cellar.

This is the final Experts Poll until after the Champion's Cup Final on Saturday, 14 May.

Our panel of nine experts includes a wide range of top lacrosse minds, including Outsider's Guide writers, players, and coaches. Scoring is on a 10-9-8-etc. basis, so that the maximum score a team can earn is 90 points and the minimum is nine points.

The complete rankings from this week's Experts Poll, with comments (win-loss record through Sunday is in parentheses):
