Consensus on top: Tusks, Hawks 1-2 in Experts Poll

Colorado unanimous #1, Rochester unanimous #2

The Colorado Mammoth is again the top-ranked team in this week's Lacrosse-Network.com Experts Poll, including its second straight week as the unanimous number-one choice.

Colorado, which was idle this past weekend, drew a perfect score of 104 in this week's poll, earning the top spot from all eight voters. The Mammoth has held the top spot for eight consecutive weeks, dating back to last season.

Just as "perfect" was Rochester's selection as the second-best team in the NLL. The Knighthawks earned twelve points from each expert, for 96 points. This marks only the second time in Experts Poll history that first and second place were both unanimous selections.

Third, fourth and fifth were definitely not consensus choices, with Arizona and Philadelphia tied for third at 79 points and Buffalo close behind at 76 points. Arizona held its position despite losing at Edmonton, while Philadelphia moved up from a fifth-place tie (with the Bandits) after a victory at Calgary.

The Roughnecks paid a price for that loss, falling from fourth to sixth (67 points), but they remain miles ahead of seventh-place Toronto (48 points). Despite the fact that both were idle this past weekend, the Rock managed to slip by Portland (46 points) for the spot.

Another "They didn't even play!" slide was suffered by New York, which had a short-lived boost to eleventh last week after almost winning at Arizona. The idle Titans, with 14 points this week, have returned to their usual last-place ranking (six of seven weeks), while Edmonton (28 points) and San Jose (15 points) each moved up.

Our panel of eight experts includes a wide range of top lacrosse minds, including Outsider's Guide writers, players, and coaches. Scoring is on an 13-12-11-etc. basis, so that the maximum score a team can earn is 104 points and the minimum is eight points.

The complete rankings from this week's Experts Poll, with comments (win-loss record through Sunday is in parentheses):
