Streak ends, but K'Hawks lead Experts Poll anywayRochester edges Colorado for top spotR.A. Philly Outsider's Guide Editor in Chief Despite having their sixteen-game winning streak snapped this weekend, the Rochester Knighthawks hold the top spot in the season's first Lacrosse-Network.com Experts Poll. The loss on Saturday was Rochester's first in almost a full year and ended the Knighthawks' bid to break Buffalo's record of 22 straight wins (1992-1994). Rochester, which split a home-and-home series with the Bandits, narrowly held off Colorado for first place, drawing 94 points on four first-place votes. Colorado, 2-0 on the young season, earned 92 points, including three first-place votes. Buffalo (76 points) finished comfortably in third place, seven clear of fourth-place Minnesota. Calgary and San Jose, who played to a sudden-death Stealth victory, round out the first division, with 62 and 61 points, respectively. After Philadelphia (53 points), it's a long way down to eighth-place Toronto -- twenty points lower. Edmonton (30 points), New York (24), Portland (22) and Chicago (13) round out the rankings. Our panel of eight experts includes a wide range of top lacrosse minds, including Outsider's Guide writers, players, and coaches. Scoring is on an 12-11-10-etc. basis, so that the maximum score a team can earn is 96 points and the minimum is eight points.
