Hawks' loss is Mammoth's gain in Experts Poll

Idle Colorado moves up after Rochester's loss in Philly

Sometimes, a team wins by simply not playing.

This was one of those weeks for the Colorado Mammoth, which moved into first place in the Lacrosse-Network.com Experts Poll despite being off this past weekend.

Colorado had already been hot on the heels of defending champion Rochester (92 points to 90 last week), but after the Knighthawks lost Friday night at Philadelphia, the Mammoth moved up a spot to first place (92 points, five first-place votes).

Rochester didn't fall far, dropping only to second place, but the Knighthawks are only one point ahead of third-place Buffalo, 79-78. Rochester still drew two first-place votes.

Philadelphia, on the winning end of Rochester's loss, moved up three spots, to fourth place, on 73 points. Minnesota rounds out the top five, drawing 68 points.

In the only other changes from last week, idle Calgary fell from fifth to seventh (49 points) and New York slipped past Edmonton for ninth place, 27-24.

Our panel of eight experts includes a wide range of top lacrosse minds, including Outsider's Guide writers, players, and coaches. Scoring is on an 12-11-10-etc. basis, so that the maximum score a team can earn is 96 points and the minimum is eight points.

The complete rankings from this week's Experts Poll, with comments (win-loss record through Sunday is in parentheses):
